Maren Christensen - Jazz
I absolutely love teaching at CBT because every member of the studio, whether they be a teacher, office worker, or student has an important part in the CBT family! I grew up dancing at CBT from the age of three, and I created relationships and friendships here that will last me a lifetime. I really admire the self discipline that is focused at CBT in preparation for the real world, combined with the perfect amount of fun, creativity, and excitement.
I love jazz because it is just plain fun! Jazz pushes a trained ballerina to move out of her comfort zone and try new things, which for me was a vital growing experience in my dancing career. I love how a dancer can participate in so many different styles within just a single jazz class, and express themselves in so many different ways.
My dance teacher philosophy is to simply “always just go for it.” I believe that often students, particularly in jazz, have the mindset that because they have not previously tried something, they will not be able to do it. However it always surprises them when they just go for something, and just simply try it, how often they succeed
